Another week gone...

It is truly amazing that I am not only getting a weekend off *gasp!* but today as well! Three days in a row! I'm overwhelmed with all the things I could do but honestly I just want to sleep in and drink tea.

I got a chance to go up to Flaming Gorge and hike the A-Section of the Green River one last time. As always it was a blast. I won't overwhelm you with pictures so I will just share my favorite--of course it is of Rufio. I am really hoping to go on another little adventure this weekend and say goodbye to another beautiful place I love. Even though sleep and tea is a top priority so is helping Matt fix my vehicle and make it into a tip-top road trip machine for the trek back to Michigan, packing of course and sending happy thoughts out into the universe about a job I am supposed to hear about early next week. Nothing too wild and crazy... or exciting. But that's okay!

Hope you all have a relaxing and productive weekend planned!

Smaller changes

Besides the obvious big changes I have been throwing into the mix of my life--school, moving and the chance of some new jobs--I've been mulling over small changes too. And to some people I know this may seem a little goofy but to me getting a hair cut is a big change. (I am laughing a little bit as I am writing this). The possibility of being in an environment where I can not only brush my hair daily but get my hair cut every six weeks is such a departure from the environment I am in now. I highly doubt I will go crazy and dye my hair and get a cut I need to style every single day--ugh. I have been only able to get my hair cut once or twice a year for quite a while now. And every time I do each and every stylist has told me they would kill for my hair. I guess that can be very telling of what products, styling and dying to do to hair. But, in a nutshell, I am excited to chop all my split ends off and start fresh. I said it before and I will say it again... it's the little things.

And I think I will do a little more procrastinating and find a hairstyle I want to get before going back to doing some real work. Go enjoy the little things!

A walk in the woods

After a whole glorious weekend morning off slowly drinking coffee, finishing my school stuff for the week and just goofing off in general, I had enough and needed to get outside! Around 3:00 we packed up the pup in my Jeep and headed for the nearest canyon--Dry Fork. It is the easiest hike ever but that doesn't mean there isn't some great views, especially with the leaves changing. Not going to lie, I made it a really slow hike because I had to stop every few feet to take a picture but the boys didn't seem to mind. It just meant that Rufio got to sniff more things. Oh, Fall... You are so colorful!

October wishlist

Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Fall weekend. Mine sure wasn't too shabby. I thought a good way to kick off a new week was a new wishlist for Fall.

Nightly routine

I keep reading in a few places how important it is for creatives to have a morning routine--get ready for the day and start fresh. I do long for the day when I can wake up, enjoy a coffee in my breakfast nook, take the pup for a walk and do yoga before I plug into work for the day. To me that sounds magical. But I think the nightly routine is just as important. And for now, it's something in my life that is constant and consistent. We spend time in our cozy cabin doing cozy things. Drinking chamomile lavender tea, watching an episode of something on Netflix, talking about life, cuddling with the pup and reading.

I was thinking about it the other day. When I was in college I could work right up until bed--I would literally get up from my desk chair or walk home from my studio and plop right into bed. But now that just seems so unattractive. No time to think or reflect. No time to ready yourself for another day or spend a minute doing nothing for yourself. I look forward to walking back to my cabin, lighting our fall scented candle and just enjoying that time of quiet. And that is what I am going to do soon as soon as the Tigers game is over!

Do you have something you like to do each night before bed?

Pinterest lately: Fall

Ask me three or four years ago what my favorite time of year is I would have said Summer without even thinking about it. Summer where I grew up is magic. Ask me now and I might have to say that Fall is giving Summer a run for its money in my book. Sandy beaches, long days and shorts or scarves, dark beer and pumpkin everything? I can't decide. The things that I have been pinning lately have been reflecting this season change. I can't help but love chunky blankets on a cozy bed and leather jackets with stripes and layers. *Sigh.*

I know as soon as I settle into Fall it will start snowing... Doesn't it always happen that way though?
