Split personality

Last night I was just happily pinning away before Halloween festivities and I had to step back and laugh. Balmain and fly fishing. Not really two things that go well together. Girls who backpack and girls who go crazy over beautiful embellished jackets are not usually girls that get along. But I am that exception I guess... because I am both of those girls at once. I dream of the perfect mornings outside decked out in gear and hanging out by the river while Matt does a little fishing. And I dream of rooms full of couture clothes to go ga-ga over. I constantly give myself whiplash. Constantly.

Instead of fighting it like I have done in the past I have just learned to embrace it. It gives me something to occupy my mind and keep me inspired no matter what mood I am in. One day I could be in a kick-butt-let's-get-covered-in-dirt mood and some days I plan out patterns to do my own beading projects or spend all day sitting on the couch embroidering. Both are extremely empowering and inspiring for me. Why fight something like that?

Do you have any goofy clashing interests and inspirations?

October wishlist

Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Fall weekend. Mine sure wasn't too shabby. I thought a good way to kick off a new week was a new wishlist for Fall.

July Wishlist: Dreamin' of Fall

It is sorta kinda really really hot here! I feel like I am living in an oven and Rufio spends a lot of his time in front of a fan we bought for him.... poor lil' guy! Anyways, even though it is July my wishlist this month is dedicated to fall. I can't stop thinking about crunchy leaves, rainy days and how nice it would be to drink a coffee on a nice, brisk morning instead of drinking coffee at 9 am when it is already 90 out...

1. Tote from Free People... I'm sorry. I can't help it. I'm obsessed with the Free Peeps... and studs... and leather... and bags...
2.  Scarf from Bark Decor on Etsy. That southwest pattern screenprint is luscious!
3. Arc'teryx C'esta Hoody. A girl can never have too many hoodies for Fall weather...
4. Sprig Stitch Top by Tiny. Yes, it is sleeveless but I love those dark fall colors.
5. Frye Morgan Chukka. One day I will own Frye boots. Until then, Frye moccs will do because these ones are pretty darn awesome!
6. Inkkas. I love these shoes and couldn't really decide on a pattern to go with but I love the green in this pair. Plus they donate money from every purchase to a good cause... Check them out!
7. Tolani ZigZag scarf. What can I say? I love scarves and embroidery details!
8. Spotted Moth Maxi Skirt. I think this maxi would look killer with the Inkkas.. just sayin'...

My closet

I've been meaning to do this for a while now. A peak into my closet. I do quite a few wishlists and it seems like I'm a little shopping obsessed, but in reality my closet it pretty small--both in the aspect of amount of clothes... and space.

So there are 12 things I absolutely love.
1. UCOB sweater. My mom makes beautiful felted mittens and for a long time, we would receive garbage bags full of wool sweaters from friends and family for her to use. I snag this one before it was shrunk. Score!
2. Summer uniform: racerback tanks. You should see my tan lines... it is a little upsetting. This is my favorite--coral and tan look good together.
3. I recently found this in an outlet store in SLC. I have no idea who makes it or even what size it is but it is definitely a new favorite, nice and summery. Plus, it has horses all over it.
4. Matt calls this my studio sweater. Big, comfy, southwest pattern. It's got my name written all over it.
5. Jeans. I may or may not be a recovering jean-aholic. I'm down to 3 pairs...
6. I'm a big fan of t-shirts. This one of my favorite. What's better than the Great Lakes and a vintage feel?
7. My perfectly worn in, accidentally bleached (now holey), pearl snap. I can't stop wearing it.
8. Free Peep's tank top. High-low. Worn in. Love.
9. I wear this bandana at least 3 times a week in some capacity. Thanks, Mom, for letting me steal it!
10. Sperry's. I feel like a goober when I wear these, but I love the wool and patent leather together. They really are a perfect fall shoe!
11. I can't get enough of these linen shorts. I could wear them all day every day and even to sleep in. That comfy.
12. I can't remember for the life of me where I got these sandals. But they have gotten me through interviews, weddings, gallery showings and date nights. I really hope I never break them like I tend to do with my other sandals I wear to death...

And there you have it. A glimpse into my closet...

May wishlist: feelin' girly

I don't know what it is but I've been feeling pretty girly lately. I think it might be the warmer weather and having to stare at all my summer dresses hanging up in the closet waiting to be worn. In honor of summer weather being almost here my May wishlist is dedicated to all the girly summer things I have been coveting.

1. Star Mela Izzy Weekender. My obsession with bags is overwhelming. Star Mela isn't helping with this problem I have... just sayin'.
2. Mara Hoffman Strapless Sun Dress. Oh, Mara Hoffman, you genius woman. I love the back of this.
3. Ruche Marlene Roll Tab Blouse. Simple. Pretty. Girly. Bright. Want.
4. Element Blueprint Top. Skater chick turned pretty girl. I can't help but love it.
5. Free People Falling Flowers Dress. Who doesn't love a cute Free People dress? That embroidery floral detail? Drool!
6. Roberto Cavalli Crepe de Chine Maxi Skirt. Two words: Roberto and Cavalli.
7. Candela Lanister Jacket. Yup.
8. Ecote Beaded Strap Sandal. Might add to my sandal collection...  might.
9. Truche Simple Love Necklace. Perfectly little imperfect heart for my neck. Yes please!

Rubber boots

Yesterday I woke up to what would have been the perfect winter morning... if it wasn't the middle of April. Inches of new snow on the ground and trees completely covered. It was really pretty. But I had been rockin' my flip flops for weeks now and I was happy to move away from my not-completey-waterproof winter footwear. Since the weather was only supposed to warm up and start thunderstorming, I finally decided to suck it up and buy a new pair of rubber boots. Yes, I am a stylish dirtbag.
